Wolves sweep series vs Petrolia with overtime win
Sometimes a series sweep is a one-sided affair, with one team dominating the other through four games.

This wasn't the case in the Ripley-Petrolia first-round series, which was a highly-entertaining, back-and-forth battle of skill, speed and physicality.

Petrolia threw everything they had at the Wolves, but timely goals and outstanding goaltending gave us the four-game sweep.

On Saturday night in Petrolia, the teams traded one goal each per period, ending regulation tied at 3-3 thanks to a game-tying goal from Garrett Meurs with just over a minute left in the third period. Just over seven minutes into the extra frame, Cody Britton sniped the series winner from Jarred Colling and Pat Looby.

Other scorers for the Wolves were Nick Seiler and Dan Nicoloff, with assists going to Britton (2), Tyson Soers (2), Gerrit Satosek and Meurs.

Ripley dominated the shot clock, firing 42 pucks on Petrolia's net while Jason Hamilton faced 27 for the game and series win.

Ripley now awaits the winners from the Seaforth-Durham series (Seaforth up 3-0), Saugeen Shores-Creemore (Saugeen Shores is up 2-1), and Tavistock-Mapleton-Minto (tied 2-2). The Wolves will be off on Family Day weekend while these series wrap up.

When Round 2 begins (tentatively) on Friday, Feb. 24, the Wolves will have home ice advantage and host Game 1 of the series. Watch this site, as well as Twitter and Facebook for updates as they become available.
