Wolves take 3-0 series lead
If you're going to fall behind 3-0, it's best to do it with 50 minutes left on the clock.
The Wolves started slow on Friday night and saw themselves down 3-0 before the game was 10 minutes old. They didn't let it faze them, battling back with four unanswered goals on their way to a 6-4 win in Game 3 vs Petrolia.
The Wolves now lead the series 3-0 and could wrap it up tonight on the road.
Trailing 3-1 after one period, the Wolves dominated the scoreboard in the second period, scoring three unanswered to take a 4-3 lead into the final frame.
Petrolia tied the game with 11 minutes left in the third, but Ben Scheel tipped in a Nick Seiler shot off the draw with just 2:16 left on the clock for the game winner, while a Garrett Meurs empty netter soon after sealed it for the home team.
Goal scorers were Cody Britton, Alex Kuntz, Ethan Skinner, Jarred Colling, Scheel and Meurs. Assists went to Rob White, Ryan Shaw, Tyler McCarthy (2), Nick Seiler, Pat Looby, Tyson Soers, Skinner, Meurs (2), and Kuntz.
Jason Hamilton stood tall after a tough opening 10 minutes and stopped 25 or 29 shots for the win.
The Wolves will look to end the series tonight in Petrolia. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 is in Ripley on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.
