Wolves win clinches second overall, first-round date with Petrolia
The Ripley Wolves came out flying on Saturday night in the battle for second overall with the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks.

The Wolves had all the jump early, potting three first-period goals and one just 20 seconds into the middle frame to take a 4-0 lead. Goal scorers were Chase Meurs, Alex Kuntz, Ryan Shaw and Ethan Skinner. Assists went to Ben Scheel, Chris Coady, Tyson Soers, Jarred Colling, Cody Britton, Pat Looby, Nick Seiler, and Shaw.

Never ones to roll over, the Hawks took advantage of a couple power plays and pulled to within one by the end of the period.

A back-and-forth third period finally broke Ripley's way when Colling potted a rebound to give the home team a 5-3 lead with six minutes left. Assists went to Rob White and Soers.

Saugeen got back within one on a power play, and with an empty net, with 45 second left in the game, but Britton iced it with an empty netter, from Skinner.

Jason Hamilton got the win in the Wolves net.

The win locked up second overall for the Wolves on the last weekend of the regular season. They will face Petrolia in the first round of the playoffs, with Game 1 expected to be Friday, Feb. 3, in Ripley.
