Wolves solidify hold on first with wins over Winterhawks, 81s
The Ripley Wolves grabbed four big points on the weekend after convincing road wins over Saugeen Shores and Minto.

The Wolves travelled to Port Elgin on Friday night and came home with a 4-1 win.

Ethan Skinner led the way with a goal and three assists, while Jordan Moulton, Keaton McLaughlin and Carter Servais also found twine. JD Falconer, Kaden Hoggarth and Moulton joined Skinner in the assist column.

Jason Hamilton was stellar in net, stopping 32 of 33 shots for the win.

On Saturday, the Wolves bullied the defending champion Minto 81s on their home ice and skated away with an 8-1 win.

Skinner led the way with five points, including two goals. Other goal scorers were Cody Britton (2), Pat Looby, Gerrit Satosek, Falconer and Moulton.

Assists went to Falconer (3), Mike Howes, goalie Garrett Golley, Jordan Beisel, Tyson Soers, Austin Waite, Moulton, and McLaughlin.

Golley stopped 27 of 28 in the Wolves net for the win. The Wolves outshot Minto 37-28 on the night.

The Wolves return home on Saturday, Jan. 10, vs second place Elmvale, for a 7 p.m. puck drop. Game sponsors will be West Shore Stone and Brick, Bridgehaven Farms, Brucelea Poultry Farms, and Fabwrights Industrial. It's Jersey Night, so kids get in free if they wear the jersey of their favourite team or their own hockey jersey.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, the Lucknow Lancers visit the north side of the township for a 2:30 p.m. puck drop. Cheer on the future Wolves during the Under-5 game at intermission. Game sponsors will be Home Hardware Kincardine, MKD Concrete, and Ripley Pharmacy.
