The Ripley Wolves will finish second overall in the WOAA Senior A Men’s League, their best regular season showing since they re-joined the league in the early-2000s.
The Wolves sit at 32 points after a 4-2 win over the Durham ThunderCats at home on Saturday night. The Cats, who also have 32 points, will finish third overall as they have completed their schedule and Ripley owns the tie-breaker between the teams.
Kurt Edwards made 40 saves to help the Wolves clinch the second seed, while goals were scored by Tyler Soehner, Brett Catto (2) and Tyson Soers (empty netter). Assists went to Catto, Brent Walton (4), Soehner, Cody Britton and Nick Seiler.
The Wolves don’t yet know who they will face in the first round of the ‘AA’ playoffs, which are for the top eight teams in the league. They will wrap up their regular season schedule on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at home vs Lucknow, in a game that means something to the Lancers, who are jockeying for playoff positioning in the ‘A’ playoffs.
