A big crowd saw a highly entertaining game at the Ripley Arena on Saturday night, though the home side fell 6-4 (empty netter) to the league’s defending champs.
Ripley hosted the Clinton Radars and the teams played an exciting high-speed, end-to-end, back-and-forth game that featured some pretty goals for both sides. Although the Wolves had a 4-2 lead into the third period, they couldn’t hold Clinton down long enough, giving up three in the third plus an empty-netter that sealed the win for the visitors.
Cody Britton opened the scoring for Ripley six minutes into the first from Drew Davidson and Brian Stanley, but Clinton followed with two quick ones of their own. Before the period was out, Ripley would tie it on the powerplay, with Davidson potting one from Brett Catto and Britton.
In the second, the Wolves scored two powerplay goals within 30 seconds, the first being a 5-on-3. Ryan Dudgeon got the first, from Dylan Sayle and Ryan Armstrong, followed by Davidson again from Catto and Britton.
But in the third, Clinton was too much for the Wolves to handle, scoring four in the third, the final being an empty-netter. Mitch Campbell stopped 24 shots for the Wolves.
