The Ripley Wolves took a 1-0 series lead over Milverton in the ‘A’ playoff semi-final with a win on Friday night at home.
Milverton took a 1-0 lead into the second, but the Wolves stormed out in the middle frame and scored two quick goals to take the lead. Devin Kemp scored from Mark Stanley and Tyler McCarthy, while Travis Vangaver followed it up 20 seconds later from Jeremy McQuillin and Corey McCrae.
Cody Britton then gave the Wolves a 3-1 lead late in the second, from Drew Davidson and Jordan Turcotte.
Milverton pulled to within one early in the third, slipping one past Jason Reid, who stopped 33 shots on the night for the win.
Paul Stewart sealed it with a goal late in the third, from Stanley and Kemp to give the Wolves the Game 1 win.
Game 2 goes Sunday in Milverton at 1 p.m. The series returns to Ripley on Friday, March 13, with an 8:30 p.m. puck drop.
