The Ripley Wolves let it be known that they’re still a force to be reckoned with in the Senior A North Division by making the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks scratch and claw through the five-game series, which ended in overtime on Saturday night.
The Wolves were down in the series three games to one, but had lost Games 2 and 3 by one goal (and Sunday in overtime). On Friday night, facing elimination in Port Elgin, the Wolves played a great game and won 3-2. Back in Port on Saturday night, Kurt Edwards carried the Wolves to overtime, where Port Elgin finished the series with a goal with 90 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
That’s four one-goal games, including two overtime losses, for Ripley against the three-time Senior A defending champions – a showing no Wolf should hang their head over.
Scorers in Games 4 and 5 are unavailable at this time, but the site will be updated at that time.
Thanks to our players, executive committee, volunteers and sponsors for another successful season of Wolves hockey. We’ll see you in 2014/15!
