The Ripley Wolves pushed hard right to end of Game 3 on Sunday February 9 in Ripley. Their hard work paid off during the game to end it in a 2 -2 tie but luck was not on their side in the overtime.
The Winterhawks scored first in the game midway through the first period to take a 1 – 0 lead. The Wolves did not let the Winterhawks have the lead for long when Tyler Devos tied up the game with assists going to Tim Dwinell and Mark Stanley . The Wolves then took the lead on a power play goal by Nick Locking assisted by Travis VanGaver. The second period was scoreless, but lots of action between the players on the ice led to penalty after penalty. The Winterhawks tied the game 2-2 halfway through the third with a power play goal. With no more scoring in the third the game went into overtime. The Wolves fought hard for a goal but the Winterhawks were the successful team and scored the wining goal with 11:39 on the clock to make the final score 3- 2.
The outstanding Edwards in net stopped 54 shots and the Winterhawks goalie Roultston stopped 28.
The Wolves will travel to Port Elgin on Friday February 14 for a 8:30 puck drop.
