The Ripley Wolves couldn’t build off their first win of the year on Saturday night, falling 9-3 to the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks.
The Wolves fell behind 3-0 in the first period, but put together a fantastic three minutes in the middle of the second when they scored three to tie it up. Devin Kemp notched an unassisted, short-handed goal to get things going. Then Nick Locking potted two goals in less than a minute, with assists going to Chad Colling and Jeremy McQuillin.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep the momentum going their way, and the three-time defending champs from Port Elgin scored twice more before the period was out to take a 5-3 lead into the third. The final frame was all Port, as they scored four unanswered to take the convincing win.
Keegan Woodman got the start in the Wolves net and stopped 28 shots.
The Wolves will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, Nov. 9, when they host the Elora Rocks. The game is sponsored by RBC.
