The Ripley Wolves are still searching for their first win of the season after two road losses this weekend.
On Friday night, the Wolves travelled to Saugeen Shores to face the three-time defending champions. In a hard-fought contest, the Wolves lost 5-4.
Wolves goals were scored by Chad Colling, Tim Dwinnell, Kyle Wreford and Jeremy McQuillin. Assists went to Nick Locking, Travis VanGaver (2), Devin Kemp and Dwinnell.
Kurt Edwards made 33 saves in the loss.
On Saturday night, the Ripley crew were in Palmerston to face the Mapleton-Minto 81s, who have retooled after a down year last season. After going up 2-0 in the first, Ripley couldn’t hold off the 81s, who scored two in the second and the only one in the third to win 3-2.
Word from Palmerston was new goalie Keegan Woodman played an outstanding game in his Wolves debut, although shots on net weren’t kept during the game.
Goals were scored by McQuillin and Kyle Heffernan. Assists went to Locking and Heffernan.
The Wolves return home next weekend, when they host the Durham ThunderCats on Friday, Nov. 1, at 8:30 p.m., and then Saugeen Shores on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Friday’s game is sponsored by Superheat FGH and Boston Pizza, while Saturday night’s game is sponsored by DG MacDonald and Son.
Saturday night is also Meet the Wolves Night, so bring the kids out to get autographs and pictures with the players!
